What Can Polynucleotides Actually Fix?

Pretty much any area where your skin’s looking tired, thin, or damaged. Dr Goziem treats under-eyes (our most popular area), full face, neck, décolletage, and even hands. The under-eye – polynucleotides work where traditional filler often can’t, particularly if you’ve got bags or really thin skin that makes filler a bit risky.

Whether you’re dealing with dark circles that won’t budge, crepey eyelids, fine lines creeping in, dull skin, pigmentation, old acne scars, or just general your skin doesn’t look like it used to –  polynucleotides can help. They work with your body’s natural healing, so the results develop slowly and stick around.

Areas We Treat:

  • Under-eyes (dark circles, thin or crepey skin)
  • Full face
  • Neck and décolletage
  • Hands

Concerns Polynucleotides Address:

  • Dark under-eye circles
  • Fine lines and early signs of ageing
  • Skin that’s lost its firmness
  • Dull, tired-looking complexion
  • Uneven tone and pigmentation
  • Acne scarring and textural issues

What to Expect During Your Polynucleotide Treatment

Consultation
Your journey starts with a thorough consultation with Dr Goziem. She’ll assess your skin, listen carefully to your concerns, and talk you through whether polynucleotides are the right option for you. This is your time to ask questions and feel completely confident in the plan, nothing is rushed, and nothing is too small to ask.

Treatment day
On the day of treatment, the skin is cleansed and a topical numbing cream is applied to keep you comfortable. Once numb, Dr Goziem carefully places the polynucleotide solution using a very fine needle or a blunt-tipped cannula.

For delicate areas such as the under-eyes, a cannula is often used to minimise bruising and swelling.

The procedure typically takes 20–30 minutes, depending on the area being treated.

Immediately after
It’s normal to experience mild redness, slight swelling, or small bumps at the injection points. These are temporary and usually settle within 24–48 hours. Most patients return to normal activities the same or next day.

Results
Polynucleotides work by stimulating your skin’s natural repair processes, so improvements develop gradually rather than overnight.

You may notice early changes within 2–4 weeks, with smoother, brighter, healthier-looking skin.
Full results are usually seen around 12 weeks, once your treatment course is complete.

For best outcomes, Dr Goziem typically recommends 2–3 sessions spaced 2–4 weeks apart, followed by maintenance treatments every 6–9 months.

Polynucleotides vs Profhilo, Fillers, and other treatments

If you’ve been researching skin treatments, you’ve probably come across options such as Profhilo, dermal fillers, and a variety of injectable skin boosters, all promising smoother, younger-looking skin. It can quickly become confusing to know which treatment is actually right for you.

The difference comes down to what each treatment is designed to do.

Dermal fillers replace lost volume and restore contour in areas that have hollowed or sagged. Hydrating boosters such as Profhilo improve moisture levels and skin laxity.

Polynucleotides focus on something slightly different. They improve the quality and health of the skin itself.

Rather than adding volume, they work at a cellular level to stimulate tissue repair, calm inflammation, and encourage collagen production and healthy circulation. The result is stronger, more resilient skin that looks fresher and more refined over time.

This regenerative approach makes polynucleotides particularly effective for concerns that are often difficult to treat with filler alone, including under-eye crepiness and dark circles, acne scarring, sun damage, and thinning or fragile skin.

They can also be safely combined with other treatments such as microneedling, lasers, and skin boosters as part of a comprehensive rejuvenation plan.

During your consultation, Dr Goziem will assess your skin carefully and recommend whether polynucleotides alone or a combination approach will give you the most natural, long-lasting results.

FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions About Polynucleotides

What's the difference between polynucleotides and filler?

Polynucleotides repair your skin and get it producing collagen again, so you get gradual, natural improvement. Filler physically adds volume to specific areas. If you need under-eye skin to thicken up or texture to improve, polynucleotides are your friend. If you’ve got hollow cheeks or deep lines, filler’s better. Sometimes you need both.

We use numbing cream, and sometime a local anaesthetic too. Most people describe it as mild pressure or little pinches. Dr Goziem usually uses a blunt cannula for under-eyes which makes it much more comfortable and reduces bruising.

Usually 2-3 sessions, spaced 4-6 weeks apart. After that, maintenance every 6-9 months keeps your results going strong.

You’ll notice early changes around 2-4 weeks in, but the full effect develops over 12 weeks as your collagen ramps up. Results last 6-9 months.

No. You might have some redness or swelling for a day or two, but most people go straight back to their day. Just avoid the gym, alcohol, and saunas for 24 hours.

Absolutely, it’s one of the best areas for them. They’re perfect for dark circles, thin skin, and fine lines, especially if you’re not a good candidate for tear trough filler because of under-eye bags.

Very. Polynucleotides have been used in medicine since the 1980s. The DNA fragments are purified and biocompatible. Serious side effects are rare, especially with an experienced doctor.

They’re made from fish DNA, so they’re not suitable for anyone with a fish allergy. Also not suitable if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding. Dr Goziem will go through all this in your consultation.

Yes! They work really well alongside microneedling, skin boosters, lasers, and filler. Dr Goziem will put together a plan based on what you’re trying to achieve.
