Why Sculptra is the Ultimate Collagen Treatment

Doctor-led collagen stimulation in Central London

If you are looking for a treatment that lifts, firms and refreshes your skin naturally, Sculptra may be the answer. Unlike traditional fillers that add immediate volume, Sculptra works by stimulating your own collagen production for results that develop gradually and last up to two years.

At Alcove Aesthetics by Dr Goziem Onuchukwu, every Sculptra treatment is carefully planned and performed by a medical professional using advanced collagen-stimulation techniques for subtle, long-lasting rejuvenation.

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is a biostimulatory injectable made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a substance that has been safely used in medical treatments for decades. When injected into the skin, it triggers your body’s natural collagen response to gradually restore firmness and structure.

This makes it a perfect choice for those who want natural facial rejuvenation without looking like they have had work done.

How Sculptra Works

Sculptra acts like a collagen training treatment for your skin. Once injected, the PLLA microparticles stimulate fibroblasts, the cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin. Over time, this process rebuilds the skin’s supportive framework, improving both texture and elasticity.

Patients often describe it as looking subtly refreshed, with others noticing they look well-rested rather than treated.

Key effects:

  • Gradual volumising and lifting
  • Improved firmness and contour
  • Reduction in lines and hollows
  • Enhanced skin texture and tone

Treatment Areas

Sculptra can be used to rejuvenate and lift several areas of the face and body, including:

  • Cheeks and mid-face volume loss
  • Jawline definition
  • Temples and lower face
  • Marionette lines and nasolabial folds
  • Neck and décolletage

Sculptra vs Traditional Fillers

Many patients choose Sculptra first to rebuild skin structure, then add filler for precise contouring. Dr Goziem often combines the two in bespoke treatment plans for balanced results.

Your Sculptra Treatment Journey

  1. Consultation – Dr Goziem assesses your skin’s structure, elasticity and volume needs to create a personalised plan.
  2. Treatment – Sculptra is injected into key areas using fine cannulas for comfort and accuracy. The session typically takes 45 to 60 minutes.
  3. Massage – You will be shown how to gently massage the treated areas for five minutes, five times a day, for five days to help even distribution.
  4. Follow-up – A review appointment is arranged to assess results and determine if further sessions are beneficial.

Recovery and Aftercare

Most patients experience only mild swelling or tenderness for 24 to 48 hours. Bruising is minimal and makeup can usually be worn the next day.

Avoid alcohol, heat exposure and intense exercise for 24 hours, and always protect the skin with SPF 50.

Results develop gradually over 6 to 12 weeks as collagen rebuilds, with the best outcome visible around 3 to 4 months.
